Chris Anderson, CPA/ABV, ASA, Partner, is one of the nation’s leading valuation professionals, advising business owners, family offices, private equity investors, attorneys, trustees, and corporate stakeholders on complex valuation, succession, and ownership matters. As a Partner and the National Practice Leader of Bennett Thrasher’s Valuation practice, Chris specializes in the valuation of privately held businesses and complex ownership interests, providing sophisticated analyses that support estate and gift planning, shareholder transactions, litigation, business succession, and strategic decision-making.
Over the course of his career, Chris has developed deep expertise in business valuation and the quantification of valuation discounts, including discounts for lack of marketability and lack of control. He is frequently engaged to value complex ownership structures, including family limited partnerships, carried interest arrangements, and closely held businesses across a broad range of industries. His work often involves high-stakes situations where significant wealth, ownership rights, and long-term family or shareholder interests are at risk.
Recognized for his ability to combine rigorous analytical expertise with practical business judgment, Chris is a trusted advisor to private business owners navigating transition and liquidity events. He works closely with founders, multi-generational families, family offices and their advisors to develop valuation-driven strategies for estate planning, succession planning, ownership transfers, shareholder buyouts, and business exits. His experience also extends to resolving and testifying in valuation-related disputes arising from shareholder matters, business divorces, and marital dissolutions, where objective analysis and defensible conclusions are critical to successful outcomes.
Prior to joining Bennett Thrasher, Chris served as Managing Director and Practice Leader at Intrinsic LLC and previously as a Partner at Adams Capital. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Accountant with Ernst & Young LLP, where he performed assurance services for publicly traded companies across multiple industries.
Chris holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), and Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) credentials.
