Spencer Rees is a Partner in Bennett Thrasher’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice. Spencer helps strategic acquirers, ranging from private organizations to publicly traded companies, perform financial due diligence for various investment opportunities. He also supports financial sponsors, including private equity firms, mezzanine funds, family offices and minority investors with broader transaction assistance in both buy-side and sell-side engagements. Within TAS, Spencer focuses on leading quality of earnings, net working capital and net debt analyses.
Spencer began his career in the Financial Reporting & Assurance practice at Bennett Thrasher, where he provided audit, review and other assurance services across a variety of industries within the middle-market. In addition, Spencer worked with Bennett Thrasher’s Dispute Resolution & Forensics practice on a rotational basis aiding public organizations with independent review organization engagements. Spencer also spent time in the Strategy & Transactions group at EY, where he primarily worked on sell-side engagements.
Outside of Bennett Thrasher, Spencer serves on the board of Pebble Tossers, an Atlanta based non-profit focused on connecting youth with age-appropriate volunteer opportunities. In addition, Spencer is actively involved with M&A organizations, including the Association for Corporate Growth while also serving on the executive leadership committee of the Alliance for Merger and Acquisition Advisors’ Atlanta chapter.
Spencer is originally from Atlanta and is a graduate of the University of Georgia earning both a BBA and MAcc in Accounting. In his free time, he enjoys watching the Dawgs, golfing and spending time with his family.
Spencer is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Georgia.
