Matt Taylor is a Partner in Bennett Thrasher’s Tax Transaction Advisory Services practice, bringing more than 20 years of public accounting experience advising private equity sponsors and strategic buyers on complex M&A transactions.
Matt has advised on hundreds of buy-side and sell-side transactions across a wide range of industries, from middle-market deals to multi-billion-dollar acquisitions. His experience spans tax due diligence, transaction structuring, and negotiation support, as well as advising on internal restructurings, legal entity rationalization initiatives, and tax attribute analyses. He is known for delivering practical, solutions-oriented tax advice tailored to the commercial realities of each transaction.
Prior to joining Bennett Thrasher, Matt served as a Managing Director in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Tax practice, where he advised private equity firms and corporate clients on domestic and cross-border transactions. He began his public accounting career in New York and earlier held audit roles with KPMG and Arthur Andersen.
Matt earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy in Auditing from the University of Alabama. Matt is a member of the Alabama State Bar.
