Partner
Jennings Pitts is a Partner in Bennett Thrasher’s Tax practice and serves as the firm’s Nonprofit Tax Practice Leader. He has more than 20 years of public accounting and industry experience, advising a broad range of clients on complex federal, state, and local tax matters. Jennings brings deep technical expertise across tax compliance, consulting, and planning for large and middle market organizations, as well as tax exempt and nonprofit entities.
As the leader of Bennett Thrasher’s nonprofit tax practice, Jennings works extensively with public charities, donor advised fund sponsors, and other tax exempt organizations, guiding them through IRS compliance, governance and disclosure requirements, unrelated business income tax (UBIT), and regulatory reporting. He regularly advises nonprofit boards and management teams on tax efficient structuring, compliance risk management, and long term strategic considerations, with a focus on maintaining exempt status and supporting mission driven growth.
In addition to his nonprofit specialization, Jennings is responsible for coordinating tax compliance and consulting engagements for closely held corporations, partnerships, and high net worth individuals, providing integrated tax solutions that address both business and personal tax needs. His experience includes advising clients on complex entity structures, transactional planning, multistate tax issues, and ongoing federal and state compliance.
Jennings began his career in the federal tax group at KPMG, where he developed a strong foundation in technical income tax matters and large client engagements. He later held a tax role with a multinational corporation based in Atlanta, gaining valuable perspective on in house tax operations and global business considerations. This combination of public accounting and industry experience enables Jennings to deliver practical, client focused advice grounded in both technical rigor and real world application.
