In a recent article published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Bennett Thrasher partner Peter Stathopoulos, who leads the firm’s State and Local Tax practice, discusses the highly-sought after opportunity to land Amazon’s second headquarters, and how Georgia would be impacted if the company chooses metro Atlanta for HQ2.
Stathopoulos said that if Amazon elects to choose Georgia as its home, then the company would likely receive perks between $1 billion to $2 billion, not including grants. “Effectively, the company would not be paying taxes for many, many years in Georgia,” said Stathopoulos, whom the article described as having “negotiated incentive packages for major companies.”
