Betsi Barrett


Betsi Barrett is a Partner in our Credits and Incentives practice and its practice leader. She has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, both public and private, to provide valuable federal and state credits and incentives expertise. She specializes in Research and Development tax credits, Section 199 Domestic Production Activity Deductions, tangible property regulations, Georgia retraining credits, alternative fuel and alternative energy credits, and other federal and state credits and incentives.  Given her experience, Betsi speaks regularly and writes articles regarding credits and incentives matters.

Betsi is experienced in a variety of industries including technology, software, manufacturing, medical devices, pharmaceutical, energy, government contractors and construction. She serves companies ranging in size from start-ups to large public companies, with a focus on start-ups and middle market companies.

She began her career with the Atlanta office of Grant Thornton where she specialized in credits and incentives. Betsi later spent time outside of public accounting to assist small businesses and high-net-worth individuals with their tax and accounting needs. She returned to public accounting with the Atlanta offices of McGladrey and Cherry Bekaert in their credits and incentives practice prior to joining Bennett Thrasher in 2013

Betsi earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Kennesaw State University, and is an IRS Enrolled Agent.
