DiAndria Green Discusses Entertainment Tax Credits and eSports with Atlanta Film and TV

DiAndria Green, a Senior Manager in Bennett Thrasher’s State & Local Tax (SALT) practice, was recently featured in Atlanta Film and TV as part of the platform’s Atlanta Movers and Shakers series. In the interview, she discusses the current state of the entertainment industry, touching on Georgia’s film and music tax credits, the impact of COVID on filming and the growth of eSports.

Green shared that COVID shook up the industry and led many productions to get creative with how they were filming. Because Georgia was one of the first states to open back up completely, the state’s filming industry is back in business and thriving.

Additionally, when asked about music tax credits, Green emphasized that Atlanta has long been a “hub” for music and is home to a variety of famous singers. The music tax credit aims to incentivize these artists to continue production in Georgia instead of relocating to other states.

“I am encouraging Georgia artists to take advantage of this credit,” Green said. “…If we start with our Georgia folks, they’ll start spreading the word, and then you’ll start seeing the boom in the Georgia music industry.”

Green also talked about what attracted her to Atlanta’s entertainment industry and offered advice to those seeking a similar career path.

“Always be eager to get knowledge and learn,” Green said. “Apply [that] knowledge…[,] and be sure to network. I tell young people all the time that there’s a lost art in networking… Get in front of people… Put yourself out there, and once you do that, have the knowledge to share why you have a seat at the table.”
