In a recent article published in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Bennett Thrasher partner Peter Stathopoulos, who leads the firm’s State and Local Tax Practice, provides insight into the film tax credits that have helped Georgia’s film and television industry to flourish. Stathopoulos, who spoke on “The State of the Incentive” at the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “The Business of Film” event on December 7, described three waves of growth. First, he said, came production then the building of sound stages. He expects the financing and creation of content to represent the third wave. “Obviously there are great changes in the distribution of content with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon and Disney all having streaming platforms,” Stathopoulos was quoted as saying. “With this disruption taking place in the industry in terms of how content is delivered and consumed, there’s probably some (more) opportunities for Atlanta to get involved in the creation and distribution of content than there were before.” Click here to read the full article.
