Bennett Thrasher director Matt Grosvenor authored the article, “Employee Benefit Plans Update” for the March/April 2013 issue of GSCPA’s Current Accounts. The article highlights recent changes to employee benefit plan audits and what auditors need to know to avoid making some common mistakes. Some of the recent changes Matt discusses are fee disclosure regulations and requirements, fair value measurements and disclosures, and the AICPA Clarity Project on auditing standards. In order to avoid some of the most common plan sponsor mistakes, he recommends being timely with deposits, properly filing Form 941, and being sure not to exclude eligible employees.
