Stephen, a Partner in Bennett Thrasher’s State and Local​ Tax practice, specializes in advising software businesses​ on sales and use tax matters, including nexus studies,​ tax categorizations, voluntary disclosure agreements, preparingfor diligence, and implementing and helping to build best-​practice processes around automated sales tax software​ (e.g., Avalara).​

Stephen has spoken at or been featured in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Accounting Today, Thompson Reuters, Georgia Society of CPAs and others.

Prior to joining Bennett Thrasher, Stephen spent five years at Deloitte Tax, LLP in the Multistate Tax Services line, providing state income/franchise tax consulting, compliance and ASC 740 (provision) services to large corporate taxpayers.
