Bennett Thrasher Foundation Brings Junior Achievement to Lockheed Elementary

Volunteers will reach the entire student body, teaching students the “economics of life”

Atlanta, GA (May 10, 2007) – Bennett Thrasher Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Atlanta-based CPA firm Bennett Thrasher taught some valuable lessons on Thursday, May 10 as 77 volunteers from the firm delivered Junior Achievement of Georgia’s curriculum to 720 students at Lockheed Elementary.  The significant volunteer effort was the Firm’s first time volunteering with Junior Achievement.

The half-day event involved the entire school, with topics including saving and spending, regional resources, and how individuals and businesses contribute to the community and nation. 

Junior Achievement of Georgia’s K-12 curriculum-aligned programs are designed to be delivered in the school setting, as well as in after school and summer camp programs across Georgia.  The volunteers from Bennett-Thrasher Foundation will help the organization bring an understanding of the “economics of life” to 104,000 students statewide this school year. By training and placing business volunteers to deliver Junior Achievement’s personal finance, workforce preparation and entrepreneurship programs,  JA prepares and inspires young people to maximize the promises and possibilities of the American free enterprise system.  Junior Achievement brings the economic “real world” to young people, opening their minds to their full potential by bridging the gap between the business and education communities.
